Located in rural Haiti, Montrouis is a tough place for orphans to live. It's a village of "no." No infrastructure. No government. No safe water. No sanitation. No jobs. No industry. No electricity. And barely enough food.
Before the earthquake, UNICEF estimated over 380,000 restaveks, Haiti's term for children abandoned by parents who could not support them. The good news is that Eden Garden Orphanage is helping 37 orphans in Montrouis rebuild their lives, one child at at time.
